Extracts: For many years John Muir was a familiar and respected vistor to Still Bay – a special holiday town of the southern Cape coast of South Africa. His research on drift seeds was based on material collected mainly along stretches of Still Bay coast line, from the Duivenhoks River to Gouritz River Mouth. His love and knowledge of the veld and the sea made this Scottish-born ship’s doctoe a most interesting person to speak to, and he was a fine teller of tales to children.
